Juan joined our research group in October 2015 as a research assistant funded by the ERC. His work includes updating of online Paleobiology Database tetrapod records, focusing on data from the Late Permian and the Miocene, as part of a group-wide project studying the patterns of biodiversity of tetrapods during the Phanerozoic.
Juan completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at University of Barcelona, spending his last year in University College London, working within Professor Susan Evans’ research group. There, he studied fissure fossil material from the Late Triassic of South Wales, focusing on rhynchocephalian and procolophonid remains and evolution. Later, he studied a Masters in Palaeontology at Autonomous University of Barcelona, as part of which he conducted a research project based at the Catalan Institute of Paleontology, where he studied a new Iberian Miocene herpetofaunal locality and its implications for reptilian and amphibian faunal distribution during the Miocene in Europe.
